Hey hey hey! As you know, I’m getting ready to launch on this mission trip to Italy, and it’s been a wild ride. To be honest, I’ve been feeling pretty stressed out lately. There have been moments where doubt has crept in, and I’ve wondered if I’m really doing the right thing. But I’ve been reminded that those doubts aren’t coming from God – they’re coming from the enemy. Despite the challenges, I’ve also had some amazing moments. Moments where I’ve felt God’s presence, where I’ve seen His provision, and where I’ve been reminded of why I’m doing this in the first place. One thing that’s been really helping me right now is a book I’m reading called “Practicing the Way”. It’s all about shifting my perspective on practical Christianity to being an apprentice of Jesus. There’s this one concept that’s really resonated with me – the idea of wanting to be covered in the dust of our Rabbi. In ancient Jewish culture, when a rabbi or master had disciples, they would follow them everywhere, and by the end of the day, they’d be covered in the dust of their rabbi’s feet. It was a sign of their devotion, their commitment to learning, and their desire to be close to their teacher. The idea is that we should have that same desire to be close to Jesus, to follow Him so closely that we’re covered in the dust of His footsteps. It’s not just about following rules or doing the right things – it’s about being so devoted to Him that we want to be wherever He is, doing whatever He’s doing. It’s a powerful reminder of the kind of relationship God wants to have with us. As I get closer to launching, I’m trying to soak up every moment of preparation. I’m praying that God will use this experience to shape me, to mold me, and to make me more like Him. I’m excited to see what He’s going to do, not just on the mission field, but in my own heart as well.
